Happy Fourth of July from our family towards yours.

History of USA Independence Day

Although Philadelphians marked the first anniversary of independence in 1777 with spontaneous celebrations in the streets of Philadelphia, the first recorded use of the name “Independence Day” wasn’t until 1791 and Independence Day celebrations only became common after the War of 1812.

By the 1870’s, Independence Day had become the most important secular holiday on the American calendar and has transformed into what ...

Memorial Day is a day to pay respect in Memory of Our Honored Dead.

History of Memorial Day

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in military service for the United States.

The first official observation involved placing flowers on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.

By 1890, it was recognized by all of the northern states...

Day of the Three Kings

For Kids:

The day of the Three Kings, also called Epiphany, is celebrated in many homes around the world on Jan 6th each year.

Since the Three Kings ride camels, the night before Three Kings Day, on January 5th, kids leave their shoes or an empty box stuff with straw or grass either outside their home or under their bed, to give the magical camels something to eat. In the morning, the straw is gone and little toys and candies are left in its place.

This holiday tradition is not just for kids. Some Hispanic traditions include the relatives! Close relatives also put a box under their beds filled with grass or straw for the camels. In the morning, the grass is gone. In its place are gifts for the children in the family.

There is a special bread that is baked for Three Kings Day called Rosca...
